I sat in my room, listenig to the sounds of the radio, and my mother typeing down stairs. I checked the time. Eleven forty seven. Would my mother ever stop and go to bed? The clicking stoped. I grabbed my bag, ready to get out. I could hear my mother stepping in her bedroom and closing the door. Slowly, I opened the door of my bedroom and creaped down the stairs.
The air was crisp and fresh. I took a moment to enjoy the late night autumn weather. The leaves hadn't started to change yet, but you could tell they would soon. I cheaked to make sure I had the SD card and the other disk Seth had asked me to get.
Seth was the schools bad boy, but he was also very intellegent when it came to computers. For a fair price and the gear, he could hack into the shool's main-fram and change your gades. I was currently flunking math, science, and computer class. My mom didn't know yet, but she would find out soon. The walk to his house was only thirty minutes, and that was nothing compaired to the walks I had to take. Me and my mom didn't own a car, so we had to walk everywhere.
I had just passed an old bakery when I heard a blood cuderling scream. It sounded more animal like then human, but never the less, I ran to see what was going on. Stupid, I know. Run toards the blood cuderling scream, it's not like there could be a guy with a gun around the next corner. But, being me, I had to go head first into a situation. Plus, somone could be in real danger.
The scream had come from and allyway. There stood a boy with blond hair and black cloths. He was hovering over somone with a knife in his hand. His back was to me. The somone was a boy, just about seventeen, his face twisted in an internal pain. Dead. I gasped. I went to cover my mouth with my hand but it was to late. The boy turned around and stared strait at me.
I ran. I didn't know when I had started, but I was running faster then I ever had before. That kid was dead! It was like I had been blessed with super-human speed. I ran untill I was lost, and was cornered in another ally. I looked behind me. The boy in black was gone. I sank to my knees and stared at my hands. I just saw a crime sceen and I choose to run. Should I call the cops? The morge? I was still very shocked.
"Well, well, well, if it isn't the little shadowhunter,"
I looked up and screamed. It was the dead man from the ally. His shirt had a long cut, with blood seeping threw. His cheek was also bleeding.
"I bet you thought you could escape, didn't you?" He said with a raspy voice. I could barly say anything.
"But, what, you where-"
"Dead? I know." He laughed, and then he jumped at me, his weight crushing my ribs.
It felt like an elephant had landed onto of me. He clawed at my face playfully, like a lion playing with it's prey. I could fell the warn blood flowing from the cut on my forhead. It burned, badly. I tried to gasp, but no air would come in. His weight was to much on my lungs. He was about to strick his death blow, when threre was the sound of somthing slicing threw the wind, and his eyes widened and he looked down. A knife had peirced his heart.
"Fu-" he didn't have time to finish. In an instant, he expoded into shimmerning gold dust. I tried to stand up to see who had fired the weapon, but a firey pain went threw my cheast and rib cage. I felt like I would faint at any second. Luckly, they came to me. It was the boy from the ally.
"Hold still," he said.
He lifted me up, and I only had time to stare into his dark eyes before losing conshisness (wow, did I spell that wrong!).

I could her music. Music? Why was mom playing music? I opened my eyes. What in the world?! I was in a room in a bed. And not just anyroom. The place was huge! There where other plain white beds around me, all empty. Stained glass windows were set high in the tall walls. It was bright, as if early morning. I sat up, rembering what had happened. The boy, the man, the alley, and the man jumping on me. I rembered the crushing weight of the man. Wait, why wasn’t my chest sore? I looked down on myself. I was in grey jogging pants, and a white t-shirt. Who had changed my cloths? The thought of the boy changing me made me shudder all over.
I got up and looked around. The music wasn't coming from in here. No one was there. Carfully, I headed toards a set of doors to my right. The doors lead into a plain hallway, with dark red flowered wallpaper. The entire hallway was covered with doors. Left or right? Both looked exactly the same. I decied to take left. That lead to another two hall ways. I took right. These went on for some time. Where ever I was, it as huge, and made to confuse somone who didn't know their way. I could only hope I didn't get lost in here. Then, I heard muffeled voices, drawing closer. I tried to open the first door closest to me. It opened with ease. Without looking, I ducked inside and closed the door as quietly and quilky as I could manage.I stood, still as a rock. The voices where now audabile.
"-And you don't know who she is?" It was a female voice.
"No, not a clue. But she must be different. She heard the guy scream when I stabbed him." This voice must have been the boy from the ally.
"Well, she should be up in a few minutes. Let's go see if she is..."
The rest of the conversatioin was lost down the hallway. They would notice I was gone in any second. I turned around, looking for an exit. There was a strong feeling that they wern't going to wan't me leaving after witnising a murder. Infact, they might wan't me silenced completly. I was in some sort of libary. Bookshelf beyond bookshelf covered the room. Tables were in one corner, and there was a desk in the room as well. In the middle of the room there several sitting chairs. Windows hung lower in this room. One was open near the table. Easily open enough that I could crawl threw. I walked that way, carful still not to make a sound. There was good 13 feet between the window and the ground. I'd have to take my chances.
I pulled a wooden chair over from one of the tables. After it was over, I stepped up onto it. That's when I heard voices outside the libary. Well, I think it was a libary. Quickly, I stepped out onto the edge. I had no fear of heights, but I was nerves on making the jump. I knew I would easily live, but I might break somthing.
It was the sound of somone opening the door that made me lose my fear. I jumped, and landed on my arm. Crap! I knew right away that I had broken it. But that was my last consern. I got up and ran. I didn't know where, but I ran. It was right when I turned into a garden that I ran into someone. I feel over, right onto my broken left arm. Pain shot up threw it.
The somone I had run into was a boy, about fourteen, or my age. He had dark black hair and shining blue eyes. He wore black just like the other boy did. I half crawled, half backed away slowly. He didn't seem angrey, just suprised.
"I'm sorry, I wasn't looking. But it's good I found you. Jace was looking for you." He said. Who was Jace? Probly the blond boy from the ally. I didn't move. Could I run, or would the boy catch me? He was very fit looking. He seemed to read my mind.
"And, if you plan on running, just don't go that way," He pointed toards the garden. That's when I noticed somthing very odd. He had a tatto on his arm. It was swirled at odd angles, and was a pitch dark black. He didn't notice I saw it.
"Were having a... problem over there. If I were running, i'd go that way," He pointed back were I had come.
"But sadly, you wouldn't be able to get out that way."
"And why not?" I asked him.
"You'd need to know how to open the gate. Or you could try to jump over and break your other arm, or maybe a leg." He had a point. Even if I did make it to a gate, I wouldn't get very far, and I didn't have a way to get over it.
"If you'd like, I could take you to Jace." That's when I rembered he was a friend of the murderer.
"You really think I'd let you take me to a murderer!?! He literaly killed a guy!" I practicly screamed.
"But he didn't die, did he?" He asked. He was right. That guy was dead, and he just got right back up.
"And if i'm correct, that guy was going to kill you. Infact, if you think about it, Jace saved your life." He was right, again. He stoped that man before he could kill me. I waited for a good responce to come to my mind.
"If I go and speak to Jace, can I go home?" I asked.
"If you truely wish to." He reached out his hand. I took it, and he pulled me up.
"Follow me" He said.
